MY LITTLE PAINTING

Due to my disappointment in Peru and completely done with the toxic life-style of Lisbon, I decided to move to Bali in search of different life perspectives.

This was my first long trip alone and without any plans, so I went to do a Kambo session to boost my immune system and to sharpen focus. My main goal for this trip was to find a new aesthetic for my paintings.

Two decades of my life were spent partying-like-there's-no-tomorrow and experimenting recreational chemical drugs, such as ecstasy, cocaine and a few others. Stopping these habits was a long battle that I was only able to succeed with the help of sacred plants, particularly Huachuma, also known in Europe as San Pedro.

Huachuma not only took care of my body and mind, it caused and interesting shift on my psychedelic visions, which became more geometrical and full of triangles. I asked some experts on the topic, who confirmed that it’s very common to receive these particular visions when dealing with plants that contain mescaline. Historically, these patterns have been present for thousands of years in many textile crafts from various cultures around the globe, from Mexico, to Bhutan, to Afghanistan.

Once in Bali, I started exploring how to mix butterflies' patterns with these geometric shapes. This was how I found my new style, which I have been developing and working on since then.

This one doesn’t have a name, it’s just “My Little Painting”.
